Pilot Training
Since 1980, Hillsboro Heli Academy has trained Helicopter Pilots on the west-coast of the United States . Our students are trained under FAA Part 61 and Part 141 and we offer a so called F1 visa that allows our graduates to work for up to two years after completion of their flight training.
The combination of high quality flight training and our work authorization program makes Hillsboro Heli Academy the top choice for future commercial helicopter pilots.
Most students chose our professional pilot program, which takes 12-18 month. However we are flexible to create individual training plans that take into consideration previous flight experience.
Professional Pilot Program
The Helicopter Professional Pilot Program is the full training course for people whose goal is to work as a career helicopter pilot. This program includes training for these certificates and ratings: Private, Instrument, Commercial, and Certified Flight Instructor.
PPL
Your Private Pilot Certificate lets you fly helicopters for fun and recreation—giving rides to friends and family or flying for your own transport. It’s the first step toward building the skills needed for your Commercial Pilot Certificate.
You’ll be in the cockpit from day one, getting hands-on experience.
IFR
The Instrument Rating is becoming more prevalent in the helicopter industry as new aircraft applications are realized. Regardless of whether you fly in actual instrument conditions or not, the Instrument Rating will give you the tools and knowledge you need for a safe career as a professional pilot.
CFI
Your first career step is likely to be working as a flight instructor. The Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Rating is required if you want to instruct other pilots. Hillsboro Aero Academy takes pride in our ability to share our vast experience during the CFI course which will set you apart from the competition.
